 Disney has long told stories about what happens when people get what they wish for, but now they're finally looking into the history of the enduring wishing star. At the D23 expo on September 9, 2022, Disney made a significant statement regarding the construction of their next animated musical, the movie Wish. The protagonist in the story of the wishing star is Asha, a 17-year-old figure who is portrayed by Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose for West Side Story. A ball of limitless energy known as a Star responds to Asha's impassioned prayer to the skies in the novel. Star works to defend their neighborhood with Asha.
